The Kershaw brand is especially known for innovative technologies and materials, resulting in numerous industry awards. Kershaw Knives was started in Portland, Oregon in 1974 when knife salesman Pete Kershaw left Gerber Legendary Blades to form his own cutlery company based on his own designs.  Early manufacturing was primarily done in Japan; in 1977, Kershaw became a wholly owned subsidiary of the Japanese KAI Group.  In 1998 the Kershaw main production facility was opened in Wilsonville, Oregon; due to growth, the facilities were moved to a larger production site in 2003 to Tualatin, their main factory.

Boker is a manufacturer and distributor of knives, based in Solingen, Germany since 1869. Boker primarily makes folding (pocket) and outdoor knives. Boker has production facilities outside of Germany. In 1986, Boker USA, Inc. was created in Denver, Colorado. Dan Weidner, who has been part of Boker USA almost since its inception, is now the president of the company. Boker was one of the first companies to offer ceramic knives as a featured product line.

Bowie knifes was first made by James Black, but made popular by Colonel Jim Bowie in the 1800’s.  The "Jim Bowie knife" first became famous due to Bowie's use of a large knive at a duel known as the Sandbar Fight. The knive pattern is still popular with collectors; in addition to various knife manufacturing companies there are hundreds of custom knife makers producing bowies and variations.

Boker Throwing Knive, Fury Throwing Knive, SOG Throwing Knives, CAS Hanwei, and Cold Steel Throwing Knives!  Throwing knive are specially designed and weighted so that they can be thrown effectively. They are a distinct category from ordinary knive.

A throwing knive is commonly made of a single piece of steel or other material, without handles. The knife has two sections, the 'blade' which is the sharpened half of the knife and the 'grip' which is not sharpened. The purpose of the grip is to allow the knife to be safely handled by the user and also to balance the weight of the blade.

Throwing knives demand some time and practice to perfect the use of your throwing knive.  And as with any sharp object, when practicing, always keep safety in mind with your throwing knife!
